Lurking Giants Beginner Guide
Learn how the lobby, role selection, survival rounds, Giant hunts, spectating, and Coin progression work before entering your first match.
Lurking Giants is an asymmetrical Roblox horror game in which most players become Survivors while another player controls a Giant. Survivors must remain alive through the night, while the Giant searches the map and attempts to eliminate everyone before the round ends.
Prepare in the Lobby
Use the lobby to check the Shop, redeem codes, inspect available Giants, and wait for the next match. Playing with friends makes it easier to share Giant sightings and coordinate hiding routes.
Receive Your Role
At the start of a match, players are assigned either the Survivor role or the Giant role. Survivor is the more common role, while Giant selection is controlled by the game's role-selection system.
Survive as a Team
Move between cover, watch open paths, and avoid standing in one large group. Keep at least one escape route nearby so the entire team is not trapped when the Giant reaches a hiding area.
Use Map Cover
Forest and City contain different terrain, sightlines, buildings, and hiding areas. Forest favors natural cover and route changes, while City provides structures and vertical paths that can break direct chases.
React to Giant Sightings
Do not run directly toward teammates when chased. Lead the Giant away from occupied hiding places, change direction around solid cover, and relocate after the Giant checks your area.
Hunt as the Giant
Patrol major paths instead of checking every small corner. Focus on cutting off exits, revisiting areas where Survivors were recently seen, and controlling routes between strong hiding locations.
Spectate After Elimination
Eliminated players can watch the remaining match. Use spectating to learn safe routes, common hiding places, Giant movement patterns, and mistakes that reveal Survivor positions.
Earn and Spend Coins
Complete rounds and use code rewards to build your Coin balance. Coins can be spent through the Shop on unlockable Giants and other progression content.
First-Match Checklist
Redeem the active code, learn one map route, stay near solid cover, avoid following large groups, watch the Giant's direction, and spectate the rest of the round after elimination.
Lurking Giants Giant Tier List
Compare the current Giants by chase pressure, map control, accessibility, learning difficulty, and value for Coins.
The best Giant depends on whether you want maximum pressure, a new update-focused playstyle, or a free character for learning the role. Guilt remains the strongest established progression purchase, Verity is the leading Verity-update option, and Locust is the most accessible starter.
Guilt
Shop unlock · 7,000 Coins
Strengths
- Strong chase pressure
- Large and intimidating presence
- Effective at controlling important routes
- Established choice for dedicated Giant players
Weaknesses
- Requires a large Coin investment
- Less suitable for players still learning basic Giant routes
Best for: Players who regularly receive the Giant role and want a long-term Coin purchase.
Verity
Verity update Giant · Check the current in-game Shop
Strengths
- Designed around the latest Giant update
- Strong pressure in active chase situations
- Works well with the update's new mechanics and perks
- Useful for players who already understand map routes
Weaknesses
- Requires more map knowledge than the starter Giant
- New mechanics take time to learn
Best for: Returning players who want to use the newest Giant and update mechanics.
Locust
Default Giant · Free
Strengths
- Available without spending Coins
- Simple choice for learning Giant movement
- Good for practicing patrol routes and survivor tracking
- No progression investment required
Weaknesses
- Lower overall pressure than premium Giants
- Experienced Survivors are more familiar with its chase patterns
Best for: New players learning how to patrol maps, find Survivors, and control escape routes.
Lurking Giants Giant Guide
Meet Locust, Guilt, and Verity, then learn how to patrol maps, find Survivors, cut off escape paths, and finish chases.
Giants are the hunter side of each match. Their objective is to locate Survivors, pressure strong hiding locations, and eliminate players before the survival round ends. Each Giant offers a different balance of accessibility, chase pressure, and learning difficulty.
Locust
Starter Giant
Unlock
Available by default
Difficulty
Beginner
Playstyle: Direct patrol and chase
Strengths
- Free starter option
- Easy to use for learning map routes
- Effective when repeatedly checking busy paths
- Suitable for practicing basic attacks and chase timing
Weaknesses
- Experienced Survivors recognize its common approach routes
- Relies heavily on good positioning and route prediction
Strategy: Patrol intersections and routes connecting major hiding areas. When a Survivor is found, move toward the next exit instead of following directly behind them.
Guilt
Premium Giant
Unlock
Purchase from the Shop for 7,000 Coins
Difficulty
Intermediate
Playstyle: Heavy pressure and area control
Strengths
- Powerful presence during chases
- Strong at forcing Survivors away from safe areas
- Effective around narrow exits and important routes
- High long-term value for frequent Giant players
Weaknesses
- Expensive compared with the default Giant
- Poor route choices waste its strongest chase opportunities
Strategy: Control the exits around buildings, caves, and other popular hiding zones. Force Survivors into open paths before committing to the final attack.
Verity
Verity Update Giant
Unlock
Available through the current Verity update roster and Shop
Difficulty
Intermediate to Advanced
Playstyle: Advanced chase and update-focused pressure
Strengths
- Built for the newest version of the game
- Strong option for active and aggressive Giant players
- Pairs with the update's expanded mechanics
- Effective when the player already understands Survivor routes
Weaknesses
- Requires more practice than Locust
- Less forgiving when abilities or chase opportunities are mistimed
Strategy: Use map knowledge to predict where Survivors will relocate after being discovered. Pressure the destination first and block the strongest escape route.
Giant Match Strategy
Core Playbook
Unlock
Applies to every Giant
Difficulty
All skill levels
Playstyle: Search, pressure, intercept, and eliminate
Strengths
- Patrol high-traffic routes instead of random corners
- Check strong hiding areas from an angle that blocks exits
- Track where Survivors are moving rather than where they were last seen
- Return to recently cleared areas after Survivors begin relocating
- Use spectating and Survivor rounds to study hiding habits
Weaknesses
- Long, direct chases can waste the remaining round time
- Repeatedly checking empty areas gives Survivors time to reposition
Strategy: Think one route ahead. The fastest elimination usually comes from intercepting a Survivor's destination rather than copying every turn they make.

Lurking Giants Maps and Hiding Spots
Use darkness, vertical routes, caves, structures, and solid cover to break the Giant's line of sight. Every hiding place should also have a planned exit.
Forest and City environments reward different movement styles. Outdoor areas provide natural cover and dark terrain, while urban areas offer rooftops, stairways, corners, and elevated structures. Staying in one obvious location for the entire round makes it easier for the Giant to search that area.
- Use tree lines and dense vegetation to interrupt the Giant's view.
- Caves and dark recesses provide strong temporary concealment.
- Avoid crossing exposed ground while the Giant is already facing your route.
- Move to a second covered area after the Giant checks your current position.

Spend Coins on permanent progression after learning the free Giant. Roblox passes remain optional and are not required to enter normal matches.
